Fareham Art Trail brings culture to the community

I was lucky enough to be invited along to the launch of Fareham Art Trail (23-30 August 2014). It’s a fantastic event that’s making art more accessible to my town in Hampshire and the wider community.

Considering its a volunteer run project there’s an amazing number of things to do during the Trail, from visiting mini-exhibitions at venues all over the borough to picking up pieces of free magnetic art in the town centre. The later is bound to be a hit with art-lovers of all ages. Here’s an example of the free art on offer:

Something that struck me during the launch at Fareham Community Church was the quality of the art on show. The Trail has attracted some amazing artists who have exhibited at major venues all over the country, like the Imperial War Museum North and Royal Academy. It’s fantastic to be able to see professional artists exhibiting in the community.

The Art Trail is also giving local and amateur artists the opportunity to share their work. I was in particularly in awe of the art contributed by Fareham school children.

There are more than 100 pieces of art, from sculptures to audio-visual works and paintings, contributed by 70 professional, amateur and local artists.

The organisers have created some handy maps to help you find your way around, and a catalogue and guide to tell you about the artists.

Fareham Art Trail takes place from 23 to 30 August. For more information about the Trail, exhibition venues, and participating artists visit www.farehamarttrail.com. You can also follow it on Twitter or find it on Facebook.

It’s worth mentioning that I am a volunteer for Fareham Art Trail so that’s how I earned my ticket to the launch. It goes without saying that I am genuinely excited about this event and all opinions are my own.

I love hearing what people think about my blog so feel free to leave a comment below and browse around. You can also find me on Bloglovin’, or follow me on TwitterFacebookGoogle+ and Pinterest.
